I can't imagine seeing them crawling around out in the freakin' open!! Now that's a spider.

I'll have to grab some pictures of the tarantulas we have at work when they get to roaming around this Spring.John Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09376217483411918789noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33073529.post-54881014104765573922008-02-10T10:48:00.000-06:002008-02-10T10:48:00.000-06:00sailorcurt:You and me both!!!It's freakin' me out....sailorcurt:

You and me both!!!

It's freakin' me out. Now the tone for my whole day is set. I'm going back to bed.

Seriously, I've had a problem with spiders for as long as I can remember. I think it stems from my early days working the corn fields. These exact spiders (actually slightly different, but the same genus), used to make webs between the rows of corn at night. While detasseling or derogueing at oh-dark-thirty in the morning, we'd be walking the rows paying attention only to our work and BAMMO...walk face first right into these things. Sticky spider web in the mouth and a quarter sized arachnid scurrying across your face. The only hope is that your mouth isn't open when it happens.

Gives me the chills just thinking about it.

Anyway, you mentioned her mate. Don't worry, she'll kill and eat him after she's gotten what she wants from him...but literally, not in the figurative sense like human females do.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33073529.post-86395630832677797302008-02-09T04:12:00.000-06:002008-02-09T04:12:00.000-06:00Nice. I think I'd be pretty hopeless with actual living creatures.

When I was a kid I used to feed grasshoppers to these spiders.AlanDPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00910363728370240226noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33073529.post-72809730064906104432008-02-08T22:40:00.000-06:002008-02-08T22:40:00.000-06:00Great picture.
