Pernod Ricard and Absolut Vodka

In an earlier post, An Absolut Alternative, I jumped on the "boycott all things Pernod Ricard" bandwagon.

As it turns out, Pernod Ricard is not the bad guy in this instance.

Absolut is the flagship spirit for Vin & Spirit (V&S Group). V&S Group was purchased by Pernod Ricard, but not until March 31st, 2008. The Absolut-ly Disgusting advertising campaign seems to be the responsibility of Vin & Spirit, not Pernod Ricard.

The advertising campaign by Absolut Vodka supporting the reconquista of the Southwest United States should be punished by the American customer base. So far as I am concerned, there should no longer be an American customer base for Absolut Vodka. I would ask Pernod Ricard to take quick action against any and all individuals responsible for the ad in question, maybe transfer them to Nuevo Laredo for a culture immersion experience.

Here is where you can contact Pernod Ricard if you would like to let them know how you feel about this particular ad campaign.
