Who'd a thunk it?

In an extremely short period of time the .gov has gained control of a majority of the home mortgages in the United States, a large chunk of the financial and insurance industry, two major automobile manufacturers and now our health care industry. Private health insurance will most likely be a thing of the past within 3 to 5 years and the .gov is hiring thousands of "agents" for the IRS to ensure that you participate in the .gov health care plan. Some ex ACORN activist with a gun will be charged with keeping you in line. Gives you the warm fuzzies doesn't it?

So now the .gov owns your mortgage, builds your cars, controls your finances and is in charge of your health. Honestly now, how long do you think it will be before the .gov decides it has the power and authority to tell you where to live, who to work for and how many kids to have. The .gov already controls our schools, at what point will they decide to tell our 5th grader that he has to attend the Government Motors Middle School and become a part of the UAW fast track to assembly line worker at the local plant?

The .gov has decided that you have to pay for health insurance, what else will you have to pay for? If the .gov is in charge of your health, might as well require you to pay for a gym membership so you stay healthy eh? If the .gov is going to take away your choice in health service providers they can take away your choice in lifestyle.

Damn it. The American Dream has suffered another major hit this week. On top of overreaching it's bounds, the .gov has decided to add additional taxes to investment income. Americans do not save enough as it is, to penalize those of us who do look to the future is just one more attempt to make us dependent upon the benevolence of our rulers.

Who would have thunk America would ever have "rulers"?

Are you going to put ALL the blame for EVERYTHING on GW Shrub? What a maroon!
Sorry. If you are who I think you are (anony-mouse troll in Quick Question post), then you are as unlearned in history as you are ignorant and illogical in everything else.

Go back into your history books - if you even know how to read.

Learn about Pres. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the great-grand-daddy of Big Gub'ment entitlements, with the beginnings of Social Security. Learn about all the gub'ment money spent and the three-letter agencies that purported to help people during the Great Depression, but actually prolonged and worsened the Depression (approximately 8 years!). And that the ONLY thing that brought us OUT of the Depression was our entry into WWII via Pearl Harbor.

Now - go back a little further, just a little more. Learn about the Depression of 1920-1921. What!? Never heard of it? Not surprised, it's seldom taught in school, because it doesn't fit the "agenda" that gub'ment intrusiveness is good. It was a depression (duh!) that was sharp and deep. It made the Great Depression look like small change. But it was short, only a year. Why? Because THE GOVERNMENT (note the change in spelling) DID NOTHING!! No agencies created, no money spent "helping" people. The government let the free market take care of itself. Good businesses flourished. Bad & ill-managed businesses failed. People were fired & let go. But when the FREE MARKET saw that there was NOT going to be any handouts, they got busy and TOOK CARE OF THEMSELVES. And hence, the short duration of that little depression.

So, to you, anon 10:38, go crack open a book, instead of booking some crack.

I am, ever yours, a Libtard's worst nightmare, an educated and pissed-off Conservative.

Hello Right Wingers ---

We had eight years of Bush and Cheney, but now you get mad!

You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.
You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy.
You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got ousted.
You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed..
You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.
You didn't get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said
illegal war.
You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq .
You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.
You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.
You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.
You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.
You didn't get mad when we let a major US city drown.
You didn't get mad when we gave a 900 billion tax break to the rich.
You didn’t get mad when, using reconciliation; a trillion dollars of our tax dollars were redirected to insurance companies for Medicare Advantage which cost over 20 percent more for basically the same services that Medicare provides.
You didn't get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark, and our
debt hit the thirteen trillion dollar mark.

You finally got mad when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all okay with you, but helping other Americans... oh hell no.

I rest my case.

You should erase this Trolls comments. Typical leftist Bullshit. This simple statement sums up the fact that "Anonymous" have no grasp on Reality; "deserved the right to see a doctor".
First seeing a Doctor is and never will be a Right, it is a Responsibility, and Deserve is never mentioned in the Constitution, a document you have obviously never read. But first learn the difference between a Right and a Responsibility. Oh and that illegal war? it is still going on right now under your Messiah Obamas Reign.

The government doesn't actually have control over the mortgages though FWIW. It only buys preferred stock, which works more like debt than equity.

So it may have been that they owned 65% of GMAC at the peak of the TARP program, but they were nonvoting shares, and holders of nonvoting stock have no authority to say "okay, you have to pay us back now."

I'm not sure about the automakers. I haven't looked for preferred stock for them.

Agree with you about the other stuff though.

I love the USA, I love my gun rights, and I work hard in my small business to make a good American product. Out in the shop, we understand that the age of our Constitution is relatively young compared to the age of the English vocabulary. What we don't get is which part of the word "uninfringed" has a different meaning today than what it did just over 200 years ago?
Pretty sharp for leather shop guys, huh.
