Governor Perry, Senator Hutchison, and EBR's

The 2010 Governor's race here in Texas is already heating up. Our Senior Senator, Kay Bailey Hutchison, has decided to challenge Governor Rick Perry in the Republican Primaries next year.

This is exciting. Two very popular politicians running for the same position should make for some good politics.

Reader Jay from Houston sent a link to an AR15.com thread with images of Governor Perry at LaRue Tactical. Like Mark LaRue says, "Bet our Texas Governor can out shoot y'all's Governor".

Here is Governor Perry being spotted by Todd Hodnett as he shoots 1/2 MOA groups.

Here is a close up of Governor Perry's form on the bench.

Seems our Governor likes to shoot EBR's. The fact that he can shoot sub MOA groups shows that his range time includes more than just photo ops.

What does Kay Bailey think about EBR's and EBR owners?

The following video was clipped from a presentation at the Heritage Foundation concerning an individual right to keep and bear arms. Even though Senator Hutchison joined with fifty-four other senators, 250 representatives, and Vice President Cheney to submit an amicus brief in favor of Heller in the SCOTUS DC v Heller case, she still supports an Assault Weapons Ban.

This one statement shows just how far off the mark she is with her definition of an individuals right to keep and bear arms. I have comments on this issue previously, and have contacted her office concerning these remarks. I know for a fact that at least one member of her staff is reading this blog and knows of our concerns over this issue. The Senator's response so far has been less than adequate.

There will be more to come comparing and contrasting the records of both these politicians concerning our right to keep and bear arms.

Sorry about the quality of the video. I somehow got the sound track a couple seconds off track from the image. I'll continue to tinker with it and see if I can get it right.

I keep hoping that some other Republican that is better than Hutchison and Perry will com forward. I won't vote for Hutchison because of wishy-washy stance on the Second Amendment. And, Perry while good on the Second Amendment would sell off the entire state for a bottle of hair gel if he could get away with it.
I hear that Kinky Friedman is running on the Democrat side. Any time he is asked a direct question about just about any subject (including gun control) he two-steps around the answer better than a politician who has been in office for 30 years.

Kinky is a socialist and a clown and a joke. Kay Bailey is a RINO. Perry is the only true conservative.

Just another reason not to vote for KBH (along with bailouts, pork projects, prochoice stance, etc.)

JR
The FBI report on crime and assault weapons clearly pointed out the assault weapons ban did nothing to reduce crime. It only succeeded in inconviencing honest shooters and ranchers. I was on the fence with Perry and KBH, and now have decided to give my support to Perry. Thanks for the report.

KBH is a dead fish... met her once or twice and she's super sweet, and super nice. Just like the cheerleader she used to be way back when. But you knew the instant she turned her back on you, you were a distant memory....

Between my personal experiences with her, and her anti gun views, nope, not gonna vote for her.

Perry is the obvious choice after seeing that...

KBH has stepped off the conservative platform too many times for me. I also think she has been in DC too long. So far this primary is easy for me - Perry for reelection(if he doesn't do something stupid)

Just when you thought there was no way Kay could possibly screw up her campaign efforts more than she already has...she drops this bombshell. Way to show Texans you're right in line with the values and traditions we hold dear. She has effortlessly shown us that she will bailout a bankrupt bank CEO, yet she won't bail out the unemployed, and now she want's to take away our right to bear arms?!? I thought that was Obama's policy? Now we're getting it from Kay as well? I think Kay has forgotten where she's from and who put her in office, and now would be a good time to send her a little reality check.

Politicians who are for gun control are either incredibly naive or wish to have an unarmed populace. After all these years of gun control and the statistics generated from those laws, there simply aren't any other conclusions. For the naive politicians, my wish is that they would try a different tack: we've already had legal arms legislated away. Try going the other way and make it easier for the TAX PAYING, CAMPAIGN DONATING American to own what we want to. It's already illegal to use a firearm in the commission of a crime. Hell, it's already illegal to commit a crime. Quit trying to make it "illegaler" and let us defend our damn selves.

I think that Perry is a moderate that his playing a good conservative game. But as long as he is willing to play the game, I think I'll likely vote for him. Unless of course someone more conservative makes a go of it.

What do you think of the guy that is running for KBH's spot in the Senate? I can't remember his name right now.

Stick with it, amigo. Great blog.

We don't HAVE to choose between Kay and Rick. Debra Medina, who is more conservative than both of them put together, is also running. www.medinafortexas.com

Rick Perry is the real deal. Medina is not proven at all. I don't trust her rhetoric, with Perry I know he is pro-2nd Amendment. Period. KBH is a RINO.

Just because Perry is out on the range shooting a gun doesn't mean he makes a great governor. That's ridiculous. He's just as much as RINO as KBH.
But, since we are on the subject, Debra Medina is an outspoken supporter of our 2nd amendment right AND she believes in and supports open carry. And she's ousted Perry's so called surplus. He's done major damage to our economy and doesn't deserve a 3rd term.

For those who say that Rick Perry is more moderate... where in the heck do you get that information??? He is very, very conservative! More than any other.

But I do agree with Texas Mack, Medina is not proven and her rhetoric cannot be trusted. You can't just waltz into a race like the Governor of Texas and just simply say you can do this or that and expect much. Where's her record of accomplishing anything? I certainly know where Perry's accomplishments are and it's a long, long list and a strong one at that. Perry again 2010!

+1 on Debra Medina.
Watch the debate this Friday, or find the recent one on Youtube.
Medina's the real deal.

If Perry were pro 2nd amendment, he would not stand by while the Austin PD and BATF intimidate the Texas Gun Show into shutting down using the "color of law" when there is no law backing what they are trying to enforce!

Medina is the only real conservative in this race!

Perry conservative? haha
Perry who forced young girls to tkae a vaccine made by one of his top contributors, whether they wanted it or not!$$ Perry who for years tried to force toll roads onto Texans against our will because his corporate foreign buddies (Cintra) paid him! Perry who has triple government employees and doubled Texas' debt! None of the above is the least bit conservative!

Medina reminds me a lot of Palin. She had no experience, was just a wife and mother, yet was able to clean up Alaska.
