From their transition platform:
Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn’t have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets. It did not take them long to initiate the battle, the next move is ours.
H/T to Sebastian.

Here's another scoop of poop as yet unconfirmed from the Retail Firearms "grapevine." Somebody in government circles is talking about banning high power scopes for rifles. I guess they mean the kind a sniper might be interested in but that would include the Varmint/Target models as well. There goes that 10x-40x52mm I wanted for my (yet to be purchased) Remington 700VTR. Of course that rifle might be banned too as an assault weapon since it has an O.D. green stock...
I hope your buds are shittin' us...
Because this could really, really suck.
That would maybe get the one gun gunnies off their rears.
ol' grey: PLEASE keep us informed on whatever you hear about that one!
O.K., I did a little research. The "Sniper Rifle Ban" is a little bit of old news being rehashed. The NRA has information on the push for banning .50 calibers and a secondary push for a ban on .30 calibers referred to as "Intermediate Sniper Rifles." International Gun Control fanatic Rebecca Peters has called for a ban on all rifles and accessories (bipods, slings, and scopes) that can accurately strike a target at a range of 100 (ONE HUNDRED?!?) meters or farther. The retail outlet that I was in where I overheard the conversation may be making a commercial decision (i.e. high powered scopes are not selling) as why to drop those models but the clerk wanted to blame it on other influences. And why not? Remember what Michael Moore did to K-Mart in "Bowling For Columbine."
interesting. That page is down now....
Hey guys, spread the word. They aren't going to take our rights without a fight.

Correction: Dr. Peters only calls for the ban on rifles of any caliber that can strike a target at or beyond 100 meters.
Violence Policy Center (VPC) calls for civil lawsuits against the manufacturers of rifle scopes if someone uses one to commit a crime with a rifle attached to the scope.
Note to self: Always check source's sources before opening mouth...
Again this is all old news from earlier this year but with the Liberal Democrats (Conservative Democrats are being stripped of power) in charge, nothing should be considered off the table...
