How do we know that licensing does not protect the public as our benevolent government officials keep telling us it does? Because the government refuses to allow itself to be held liable for actions of anyone it issues a license to...including its own employees.
I second the motion for JR to take up journalism...
You know it would be great if this was hijacked and became a carry permit for weapons other than firearms (both concealed and open).
Because right now it is not possible to carry anything other than a concealed handgun in Texas.
Of course I would much prefer carrying a concealed handgun to anything else, but it’s not always possible. It would be nice to be able to carry a folding baton when I go to a club or something.
If "they" try to take it away from you then they are violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). I have one with me wherever I go, especially to places where I'm not allowed to "pack heat" and even on days when I have to use a wheelchair...

JR,
Have you seen the Op-Ed page of the Star-Telegram lately?
They are asking for people to be "community columnist", you were the first person I thought of when I read that.
Just an idea, you've gotten consider ink lately; might be time to get your own by-line in the local paper :)
LEO's will be exempt from such a law of course....

JR you would be great at the column thing.
This taser thing is quite idiotic.

Thanks for the heads up Bob, and the support from the rest of you. I'll send something in and see what they say.
In IL you need to have a FOID card to own a taser.
