I really liked this song when the Clash did it. The Nouvelle Vague version is several magnitudes of greatness better.
H/T To Which I Replied
Update: America's Last Stand called my preference for the Nouvelle Vague cover "Blasphemy".
I don't think so. Here is the Clash version:
So I'll leave it to you, my loyal readers. Which version do you like best?

Something strange is going on here.
Let me know what vid you see in this post.
Just saw it. 2:48PM CDT (05/05/09)
"several magnitudes of greatness better"
That is Blasphemy
There is a RASH of these bands doing covers due to the fact that they do not have the ability, talent or creativity to write a groundbreaking song such as this for themselves.
LONG LIVE THE CLASH!
I've added the Clash version, let us see what folks think.
Clash for me.
I should have been more clear. "Blasphemy" to cult followers of The Clash such as myslef.
I also consider MIA's use of the riff from Straight to Hell, blasphemy, but that is just me.
I don't fault you for your opinion I just really prefer the original as opposed to the photo copy.
Great Blog BTW
I didn't take offence, just thought it would be a cool way to get some comments going.
As for covers being blasphemy, I'd feel the same way if anyone tried to cover the Dead Kennedys.
I'll opt for the Clash as well, but I'm an older fart and prefer originals most of the time.
I'd have to say Clash, as well. Not a big punk fan, but it rocks better, no question
I am listening to the Dead Kennedys in my office today. Love Them.
""It's the suede denim secret police"
"...they have come for your uncool niece"
Looks like I'm outnumbered here.
One of the guys at work was reading this post and brought me a Dead Kennedys CD he had purchased at Half Price Books.
Who says blogging dosen't pay?
