It has been quite awhile since I have posted a "Sunday's Blog of the Week". There was a point where I was not running across blogs that I wanted to highlight, but having to search for them. That was more work than I wanted to be doing on a Sunday.

Now that I have a long list of blogs that have not been highlighted in previous posts, the blog of the week is back on.

Sunday's Blog of the Week

The Blog of the Week for this week is a blog that I very much enjoy reading, and that I should have mentioned quite awhile ago.

Xavier is a "Nurse with a gun" and a very informative blogger.

Xavier Thoughts is this week's "Blog of the Week".

Over at Xavier Thoughts you will find some very helpful material including:

• Sample letters to send off to your representatives concerning HR 1022

• How to inspect a used 1911 before parting with your hard earned cash.

• An easy way to ensure you stay legal when modifying a shotgun for home defense.

Xavier is very knowledgeable on the nuts and bolts of basic firearms and has interesting commentary on the daily issues. Xavier Thoughts is a highly recommended read.

Sunday's Blog of the Week

I am not really sure that this weeks blog of the week is considered a blog, but it is a very important web site. This web log provides us with a daily rundown of what is going on in the world of Second Amendment Blogs. Just as important as the current information, is the sidebar links to gun law history. This is a good place to start if you desire to become better educated in Second Amendment issues and the gun laws of today.

Of course I am talking about Gun Law News.

If you have not been there, go now. Click through some of the links, read, educate yourself. I am sure that Gun Law News will make it on to your favorites list.

Sunday's Blog of the Week

The Blog of the Week for this week is a blog that I check several times each day just to see what's new.

Fits is a prolific blogger and his commentary covers a wide range of topics. Politics, pretty women, firearms and sports are all topics covered by Fits.

If you have not guessed by now, this week's blog of the week is Shooting the Messenger. It is well past time that I highlighted this blog. Fits is straight forward and tells it like he sees it. He can be controversial because he points out BS when he finds it.

If you want a good read, enjoy guns and are interested in politics, head on over now. You may not always agree with what you find over at Shooting the Messenger, but you will have the opportunity to state your position (trolls excepted).

Sunday's Blog of the Week

I figure most of the folks who visit A Keyboard and a .45 know Oleg Volk. If not then you should get acquainted.

First you should check out A Human Right, then browse his image galleries and spend some time visiting with the folks over at The High Road.

Oleg's firearm related posters are a thing of beauty, as is all of his photography. I have used several of his images in earlier posts.

What some people may not know is that Oleg also has a blog.

What is interesting is that Oleg took comments from the peanut gallery and utilized them in the poster. If you are interested in what is going on with Oleg, then check out his blog.

Sunday's Blog of the Week

This week's Blog of the Week is Blue Star Chronicles.

Beth, the author of Blue Star Chronicles, is an articulate and well informed blogger. As the title of the blog indicates, Beth is a member of a Blue Star family and writes from that perspective. Her commentary on William Arkin and his contempt for our troops (William Arkin and the American Soldier) is right on the money. Another excellent article is her commentary on Anna Nicole Smith, Beth sees more in Anna than most.

As Beth writes about our military from the point of view of a family member, she gets more than her fair share of trolls and outright venomous diatribe from the dredges of our society. She handles this venom well.

An example is her reply to a Serbian who made the mistake of calling our soldiers vermin:

BSC: Christal - you are in Serbia and probably muslim (judging from you insistence on insulting America and our military). If you aren’t muslim, than your resentment of America and the military is undoubtedly because your country can’t fight their way out of a paper bag. I don’t give a damn what you think of the United States or our military. I am curious though as to how you can call our military vermin when it is your people who murder women and children without prejudice, who behead civilians with a dull kitchen knife and make sure they video tape it so they can use it for propaganda.

I highly recommend that you give Blue Star Chrnoicles a visit. While you are there, give her some support in the comments sections, she deserves a smile.

Sunday's Blog of The Week

This weeks Blog of The Week is the first blog listed on my sidebar under the "Blogs I Read" header. It is the first blog I check on in the mornings, and it is a blog I visit more than once a day.

Of course I am talking about - Airborne Combat Engineer!

ACE comments on a wide variety of subjects that would be of interest to readers of this blog. He has good insight on new military weapons systems, new products from the firearms industry, and news of the day. Every time I visit, I find something worth reading and looking into.

Give ACE a visit, you will be glad you did.

This weeks Blog of The Week is Armed and Safe. I found this blog by following comments left by an individual calling himself 45superman on David Codrea's blog, The War on Guns. What I found was another very good pro-rights blog that is well written and worth your time.

A couple of good examples are the following posts:

45superman writes well thought our commentary with a good sense of humor. Go check him our, you will be glad you did.

Sunday's Blog of the Week

This weeks blog of the week is fairly new but very interesting. It is a corroborative effort by On Point Firearms and Rican Havoc Productions. I found this blog by looking for shot show coverage, and boy do they have it. The blog includes quality video coverage of the shot show, and, some very good video firearm reviews.

Again, the Shot Show coverage is high quality and fun to watch. The next best thing to being there.

Sunday's Blog of The Week

This is not the first time that I highlighted The Law Dog Files as Blog of The Week, and with the way Law Dog writes, it probably will not be the last. When he gets around to writing his book, I am sure it will be featured on my sidebar also.

This week Law Dog has written probably the most down to earth and realistic commentary on what to do after you have assisted a goblin into his next incarnation.

Sunday's Blog of The Week

I generally use this feature to highlight a different blog each week. The highlighted blog is usually from my sidebar and not always firearms related. This is the first time that a blog has been my "Blog of The Week" more than once, but this is a great article that everyone should read.

For the second time, the Blog of The Week is... The Smallest Minority.

The Other Side

Whenever I write an essay or argue a point about "gun control," I always consider what the other side believes. While I've always had an individual-rights understanding of the topic, it took me the better part of a decade to construct what I believe is the logically defensible ideology to support that position. I have tried to repeat those logical points, sometimes ad nauseam, in order to reach a broad audience. After three and a half years that audience has about reached its maximum here, I think, but I'm not quite done yet. The other side certainly isn't.

A long time ago I came across an anonymous quote:

"Simply put, gun control cannot survive without an accompanying sea of disinformation".

Kevin goes on to tackle a small portion of the "sea of disinformation" in a very well written essay. It is well worth your time.

• Fred's blog is a daily commentary on news and politics. We may not always agree with each other, but differing thoughts is what keeps things interesting.

• Beth is a wife and mother in a Blue Star Family commenting on life, news and daily events. You can be sure to always find something of interest in the Blue Star Chronicles.

In the category "Best of the Top 250 Blogs" sits Castle Argghhh!!!.

• You should vote for this blog just because they have a cool name. The Castle is a military blog staffed by several retired warriors commenting on the military, past and present. As one reader puts it "Argghhh!! is a bit more casual, like I imagine a friendly local pub. But a thematic pub, mostly related to the military, old and new. (Duh)"

In the category "Best of the Top 251 to 500 Blogs" is Jarhead's Firing Range.

• John is a Gunny Sargent stationed on Okinawa. John tells it the way he sees it. Politics, news and general commentary. The range is always hot at John's place.

In the category "Best of the Top 501 to 1000 Blogs" we have Radioactive Liberty.

• This site is new to me and to tell you the truth, I have not quite gotten the Monger Horde figured out yet. It is an interesting site where metaphor and irony are used to very good effect.

In the category "Best of the Top 1001 - 1750 Blogs" we find Scottish Right.

• Joe is a well read and articulate commentator on world and domestic politics. This mornings commentary on Senator Brownback has given me pause, I have some investigating to do and emails to send off.

In the category "Best of the Top 2501 - 3500 Blogs" is mAss Backwards.

• Bruce is a fellow gun blogger living in the heart of darkness (Kennedy Country). Massachusetts is right up there with the top anti-constitutional Jim Crowe style gun control law states in the country. Bruce is fighting the good fight against long odds.

And last but not least, in the category "Best of the Top 6751 - 8750 Blogs", is yours truly.

Sunday's Blog of The Week

Tamara of View From The Porch has commenced a new blog project, The Arms Room. I will let her describe it in her own words:

When I was younger, I had a notion that the house I lived in when I grew up would have a room in it that was just for me. Darkly panelled, richly carpeted, filled with overstuffed furniture, a cozy writing desk, and with a cheerfully crackling fireplace, the walls would be lined with bookshelves. Hanging here and there on the walls between the shelves would be various historic arms: A Roman gladius, a Brown Bess musket, a Garand. Scattered on the shelves, there were other knick-knacks: an old British pith helmet, a bronze sword, a shadowbox with various old bits of military regalia. There was a suit of armor standing in the corner. It would be my own personal little museum and library.

This space on the web will serve much that same purpose for me. Over at my main blog, View From The Porch, I get a fair number of Google hits on "Mannlicher-Schoenauer", "Gew. 88" and the like as a result of my "From The Vault" and "Ask Auntie Gun Nut" posts. I'll be using this space as a repository for those in the future, and seeing where it grows from there. I hope it makes it easier for those trying to do research, being able to access the data without having to wade through my bad jokes, sarcastic political commentary, and day-to-day bloggery.

If you enjoy firearms (umm.. why else would you be on this site?) and history, then The Arms Room is for you.

So warm a snifter of good brandy and make yourself comfortable, and enjoy Tamara's latest endeavor.

This weeks Sunday's Blog of the Week was posted by John of Castle Argghhh!

It is a well written testament to our veterans of past wars, and a tribute to our current ranks.

John writes:

"I am proud of my place among you, you men and women who simply did their duty. Who didn't run. Who came when asked. I am among giants. But my thoughts will be with the newest wave of veterans."

This "newest wave of veterans" is awesome, and I am proud to share the title "veteran" with them. My war was different, it was a "cold war". And my duty was different, I was on submarines playing tag with the Russians below the oceans surface. But our goals and objectives are the same, to stand at the front lines, defending liberty and protecting these United States.

These kids who are serving today are the best, and I appreciate each and every one of them and all they are doing.

This weeks Blog of the Week is The Gun Blogs, an online community for gun bloggers. The Gun Blogs was started by Say Uncle and is a very interesting concept:

Welcome to The Gun Blogs. This site is intended to be open to all and welcomes posting by all. If you've ever thought about starting your own gun blog but didn't want the trouble of setting up your own site or didn't think you'd stick with it, now is your chance to try it out. And it's free.

There are some simple rules, not the least of which is that all content is gun related. There is always something new to read.

As an example, a recent post by KC Steve:

In my experience there are three basic types of 'antis' (anti-gun people).

Type 1 Antis are the most common. Their dislike of guns is based primarily on ignorance. Most of their information on guns has come to them from movies and television. They're reflexively anti-gun, having never given the matter much thought.

Type 2 Antis are driven by emotion. Many of them have deep personal reasons for their stance, often involving the loss of a loved one.

Type 3 Antis are driven by ideology. This is a subtle difference from the Type 2's but a crucial one. Type 3's know what the Second Amendment says, and what it means and that's why they hate it. They want to be the privileged elite it guards against.

So, how should you deal with these three types?

E. David Quammen, the force behind GunShowOnTheNet, is a solid librarian of historical facts and quotes concerning the Second Amendment and the right to keep and bear arms. GunShowOnTheNet is a blog well worth your time, and E. David is a man with a true fire in his belly for freedom and liberty. A recent post and example of his work:

There is not one particular post of David's that should be highlighted for this feature. David is a prolific blogger who just happens to write for Guns magazine (among others). David brings us news and opinion that we are just not going to find anywhere else. This week Lady Liberty interviewed Matthew Bracken, author of Enemies Foreign and Domestic. Mr. Bracken his published the second book in the Enemies series. This book is titled "Domestic Enemies" and is on book shelves now.

An excerpt from the interview that is posted on The Price of Liberty:

In 2003, author Matthew Bracken published Enemies Foreign and Domestic, the first novel of a planned trilogy. With its focus on a government set-up that resulted in draconian gun control measures, it gained good reviews and much appreciation from readers. As gun control advocates have continued in their efforts to disarm the law abiding, it also seemed to offer some chilling warnings.

This year, Bracken released the second novel in the trilogy. Domestic Enemies held onto the background established in the first novel, but added to it the probable result of continued unfettered illegal immigration into the country. Once again, the reality is striking even as the story holds the reader's interest.

After reading Domestic Enemies and finding myself genuinely fearful of some of the near future it outlines, I determined to speak with Matthew Bracken and discuss just how real his fiction might - unfortunately - prove to be. Mr. Bracken kindly agreed to answer some questions, and here is the result of our recent conversation.

Lady Liberty: In your first book, the incident that led to all of the other subsequent actions was a government set-up of a shooting incident which caused, in turn, the demonization of guns and gun owners. At the time - two and a half years ago - that seemed pretty believable. As your storyline has evolved, do you still think something like that could happen?

Matthew Bracken: Sure, a false attribution sniper attack could be done. Why not? All it would take is a rifle and ammo, and a crowd penned into an easy killing zone like a packed stadium.

LL: How likely do you believe it is that it will happen - or even that something similar has already happened?

MB: Stranger things have happened, such as Oklahoma City and 9-11. It could happen tomorrow or never. But if it happens, I hope my first novel will at least cause people to look into the crime very closely.

LL: Once laws are made, they're tough to un-do. But in the case of the second volume of your planned trilogy, the problem is apparently a lack of enforcement of long extant constitutional mandate. I refer, of course, to border security. We already know how likely that is because it's already happening. But do you seriously believe that illegal immigration is as great a threat as you paint it to be in your fiction?

MB: Absolutely. I'm dead serious about the threat...
