The Lautenberg Anti Gun Show Bill Text...

...has finally been published.

Head on over and read S 843 for yourself. It is not a very large bill (yet), and reading it will only take a moment or two.

After reading it, ask yourself this: Just how many gun show promoters will be willing to jump through those hoops to put on a gun show? How many folks will be willing to stand in those lines to attend a gun show?

Legislation such as this has nothing to do with closing any mythical "Gun Show Loophole", and everything to do with closing gun shows, period.

You hit the nail on the head, just look at how many gun shows are in NJ.

I wonder if this violates the interstate commerce clause in any way?

There are no gun shows in New Jersey because it's illegal to sell a gun at a gun show, period. You can only exhibit them. When we were both at the Friends of the NRA banquet last year, the reason they didn't auction off any guns, or raffle any guns, is because it would have been illegal.

I wish I were able to add a "poison pill" amendment to every gun control bill out there, to the effect that, as this bill affects gun rights, then you, as Kongress Kritters, get to keep your Secret Service guards, but they must be unarmed. To show the elitists that they are not so elite and special, after all.
