What Are the Good Folks on my Sidebar Saying About "Immigration Reform"?

I have some smart, literate and down to earth folks on my side bar. Let us see what they have to say about this current piece of "Immigration Reform" legislation:

ACE finds the Immigration deal near death.

The Skipper posts a poll: The Immigration Bill: You Decide.

A Jacksonian is Upholding the Nation and it's 'classical liberal' roots and trounces Immigration Amnesty 2: The Return of the Seatwarmers (both long reads, but well worth your time).

Stan blogs The non-amnesty amnesty bill and continues with Non-amnesty amnesty part II.

Fits sees the error in The Fence We Didn't Build Didn't Work So LET THEM IN!

Fred waxes sympathetic (not) in Many Mexican families face quandary.

Gunny John notes that once again We Surrender.

Our federal government has a list of things it is supposed to be taking care of, and it is a very short list. Protecting our national sovereignty is a major purpose of that list. Congress shall "...provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States;" Dragging the United States down to Third World status is not providing for the general Welfare of the United States. Congress is also tasked with the responsibility and the power to "...repel Invasions;" 12,000,000+ people entering our country without our permission and against our laws constitutes an invasion to me. So, what is congress proposing to "repel" this invasion? Nothing! They seek to legitimize those who ignore our laws and create a sub-class of folks who they think will be happy being treated as serfs by businesses large and small throughout the country.

Even a no name gun blogger such as myself can see the lunacy in this proposal

Just don't forget that the States put an escape clause into the Constitution to hold the Federal accountable in Art. I, Sec. 10:

"No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay."

The States did not agree to a suicide pact and may look to their own resources for protection and, by doing so, hold the Federal accountable as all States are to get equal protection under the law. Art. 4, Sec. 4:

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence."

They were not fools, our Founders, and they ensured that checks and balances *to* the Federal was placed in the hands of the States and the People.

Now if only we could find ONE State willing to stand up for itself. Just one. And its People.

Protect yourselves out there, it just might be the start of something. If we dare to be free.

Had a Glock, gave the POS away, literally, GAVE IT AWAY, most unreliable piece of garbage I ever saw...

Maybe I had a lemon, the damn thing 'stove piped' every 6th or 7th round, and it had NOTHING to do with the way I shot it, it did it to everyone that fired it, including Master Gunsmiths, 2 of em, and 2 Glock certified instructors, they NEVER got that damn thing to function properly...

My Son had always heard me complain about that POS and thought it was just me until he got to see one do the same thing when he was going thru the range course during his academy...

And it happened to the range master, so, it appears Glocks are NOT my cup of tea, you can't chase me far enough, hard enough or fast enough to GIVE me one...

If you like yours, cool, I am happy for you, but over the last 35 years I have been in several real live gunfights, it was a hazard of the job, and a jammed Glock would have gotten me killed, and that isn't too high on my personal list of stuff I want to have happen...

And my Son carries an XD .40, as does most of his Dept, and none of them has yet had a jam, on the range or the street...

A very few, mostly female officers, carry Glocks in 9mm, and that is their choice, I am glad they all wear decent body armor...
