Gun free zones are ignorant
Any person who believes that disarming a bunch of people in a building, then advertising that fact with a sign on the outside will make them safer is a bonehead.
Every single pro gun measure ever passed has had people moaning over the "wild wild west". Its never happened. Not in TX. Not in FL. Not anywhere, ever. Dont be an idiot. It makes people safer and crime goes down, every single time. Not like most of the time... every time.
Nearly 300,000 people in TX have a permit to carry concealed. Many more carry legally in there car. No shootouts, no wild west, ever.
Oh, and the Brady Campaign To Ban Guns put out a letter today saying that "this is illegal, all security guards in TX schools must be peace officers". Thats another Brady lie. These teachers are not security guards. They are teachers that make a personal decision to carry a gun. It is not in their job description and they receive no extra pay for it. Its just like any other citizen carrying to work with them.
Silly Bradys. When will you learn we do not take your crap in TX? Not now... Not ever...
Ya know, some folks just don't see guns as tools, a means to a legitimate end, the protection that libbers feel will be offered them by the police...
I live by the old adage that if danger is imminent, police are only minutes away...
I can't give you exact details but let it suffice to say, I have had to use a gun in self defense and in the line of duty, if you have to wait for *help* to get there, you may be dead...
In 1974, 34 Israeli students were gunned down in a bus on a school trip. Israel responded by arming teachers, administrators, bus drivers, and others to protect their children. Israel has not had a repeat of that tragedy. The U.S. government’s response? Prohibit guns within 1,000 feet of schools, as if criminals and deranged people obey laws.
If one really wants to kill a bunch of people, a gun free zone would be the ideal place to start. The shooter would have plenty of uninterrupted time to shoot up all his ammunition and leave before the police arrive.
Wake up! The only person ultimately responsible for you and your child's survival is you. The state's agents are not responsible for defending your life or property, only to record what went wrong. You and your child as well are only statistical data in the state's computers. Statistical data to be regurgitated to the state legislature when budget appropriation time roles around in the next legislative session.
The folks in Harrold, Texas should be thankful and proud that their Superintendent and teachers are willing to go through concealed firearm training and crisis negotiation training and are willing to put their lives on the line for their children.

Thanks guys, the pro comments are far outweighing the anti.
Dropped in my two cents - simply put, kudos to the school district.
I left a comment as well. I was glad to see that the pro's were more than the cons.
Here's my $0.02 posted on the US N&WR site

I posted. And what I said is just what I believe.
I left them a comment too. Sam W
